St. Luke's Hospital Profile

  • St. Luke's is a 300+ bed hospital that sits on a 74-acre, suburban campus in northwest Ohio. As the area's only independent hospital, St. Luke's has provided quality health care in the Maumee community for more than 30 years and in the Toledo area for more than 100 years.
  • It's more than 700 physicians and 1,500 employees provide a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services for about 165,000 patients each year. Services include cardiac, orthopedic, oncology, labor and delivery, medical/surgical, neurosurgery, pediatric, critical and emergency care.
  • The Emergency Department treats more than 40,000 patients each year. Its facilities include private treatment rooms, acute care rooms for traumas and serious illnesses, a pediatric room equipped with special "kid-sized" equipment, a gynecological exam room, an orthopedics room for fractures and other injuries, and an eye-care room. Also, Emergency Services offers expedited treatment for non-emergent conditions through Emergency Express.
  • Technology and innovative programming are key to the hospital's state-of-the-art care. New equipment additions include a 64-slice CT in 2008, breast MRI da Vinci® S HD™ Surgical System, and EBUS.Also, the hospital will open the area's first comprehensive Diabetes Care Center in 2008.
  • Accreditation from organizations such as The Joint Commission and the Society of Chest Pain Centers exemplify St. Luke's Hospital commitment to compassionate, quality care.In addition, St. Luke's is the first hospital in northwest Ohio to earn ISO 9001:2000 certification. For 2008, HealthGrades rated St. Luke's Hospital as the best in the region for cardiac surgery and for overall orthopedic services.They also awarded the hospital the HealthGrades 2008 Cardiac Care Excellence Award.

Hospitalist Program Profile

  • At St. Luke's, the Hospitalist Team of six full and part-time physicians provide on-site service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Day shifts are generally 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., night shifts from 7 p.m. -7 a.m., and schedule consists of four to seven days on and four to seven days off. Each full time hospitalist will work up to 192 hours of clinical professional medical services per month, consisting of approximately 12 and eight hour shifts and up to eight hours of non-clinical services per week.
  • The Hospitalist Team provides service response for codes, consultations, inpatient episodic medical care, ICU procedures, unassigned ED call and patient admission/discharge.
  • The Hospitalist Program is an integral component for the delivery of inpatient healthcare at the Hospital.
  • The work of the Hospitalist team is supported by St. Luke's highly trained and long-tenured nursing staff.In fact, the average RN has been with St. Luke's for 12 years and the average LPN has been with the hospital for 10 years.
  • Ongoing technology upgrades such as the upcoming installation of PACS in Radiology help to make the practice of medicine at St. Luke's more efficient.

  • A suburb of Toledo, Maumee is located in Lucas County and stretches for five miles along the north bank of the Maumee River. It also lies 65 miles south of Detroit, 230 miles east of Chicago, 130 miles northwest of Columbus and 110 miles west of Cleveland.
