Pioneers Memorial Hospital (PMH) is a 107-bed acute care hospital located in Brawley, California. Established in 1950, PMH has had several major expansions since its opening including an Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department and a Women’s Center for obstetrics and surgery. The hospital is fully equipped with state-of-the-art clinical equipment.
PMH is a full-service hospital with a modern 16 bed emergency facility. The emergency department is staffed with board certified emergency physicians and treats approximately 40,000 patients each year.
The surgical services, with six state-of-the-art operating rooms, provide general surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, ophthalmologic surgery, ENT specialty surgery and gynecology surgery for inpatients and outpatients. In addition, PMH has a busy Endoscopy service and an 8 bed Post-Anesthesia Care Unit with the latest monitoring technology.
For women and children services, there are 14 LDRP suites in the Perinatal Department within the Women's Center. PMH delivers approximately 1,500 babies per year. The Maternity Service of PMH is the recipient of the Five Star Award from Healthgrades rating service.
The Imaging Services of PMH consists of MRI, CT (with a 64 slice unit being installed), nuclear medicine, ultrasound, mammography and mobile PET/CT scanner.The department is staffed 24 hours per day with full time radiologist coverage.
Pioneers Memorial Healthcare Laboratory provides the Imperial Valley with high-quality, comprehensive, expert laboratory testing services. The team of board-certified pathologists, licensed clinical laboratory scientists and certified phlebotomy technicians are available for medical and technical consultation for laboratory tests, results and clinical conditions.
Cardiopulmonary & Respiratory includes Doppler Echocardiograms, Cardiac Stress Testing, EEG, EKG, Pulmonary Function Tests, Respiratory Treatments and Trans-esophageal Echocardiography.
Hospitalist Program Profile
The Hospitalist Team of four full-time physicians will be onsite 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Day shifts are generally 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Night shifts are generally 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The typical schedule consists of 7 days on and 7 days off. Each full time hospitalist will provide up to 192 hours of clinical professional medical services per month consisting of 16, 12-hour shifts.
The hospitalist team will attend the patients from admission to discharge, and as needed perform procedures in the ICU, respond to codes, unassigned ED call and complete consultations.

PMH is located in the Imperial Valley, which is the heart of one of the most scenic desert areas and one of the most fertile agricultural regions in the world. PMH is ideally located two hours east of San Diego, three hours southeast of Los Angeles and an hour and a half south of Palm Springs. In addition there are daily flights to and from Los Angeles, connecting to flights worldwide.
The Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area (AKA Glamis) is approximately 28 miles from PMH and can have as many as 120,000 off-road enthusiasts visit the dunes each holiday weekend.
Located in southern California, Brawley offers golf, tennis, hiking, swimming, and dune activities year round. This is complimented by the area's 12 parks, sport complexes, public pools, senior centers, performing arts centers and libraries.
Brawley has an excellent school system that accommodates students from kindergarten through college. The different schools include K-12 Christian Academies, traditional public schools, Community College and San Diego State University - Brawley Campus.
