The Ohio Valley Medical Center (OVMC) is a 225-bed hospital located in the heart of downtown Wheeling, West Virginia.
OVMC offers an array of primary and tertiary care services, from emergency and trauma care through rehabilitation. Its advanced diagnostic capabilities include magnetic resonance imaging, brain-dedicated SPECT imaging, computerized brain mapping, PET scanning, digital mammography, and heart catheterization. Advanced treatment services included high energy linear accelerator for cancer treatment and lithotripsy for the treatment of kidney stones.
Among the 200+ physicians and dentists, surgical subspecialties include neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, eye, ear, nose and throat, vascular, thoracic, orthopedics including joint implants, urology, podiatry, colorectal, and plastic surgery. Medical subspecialties include cardiology, hematology/oncology, infectious disease medicine, gastroenterology, allergy medicine, neurology, pulmonology, endocrinology, nephrology, and psychiatry.
Annually, OVMC has over 20,000 E.D. visits and over 7,000 admissions while providing high quality, cost-effective medical care.
Hospitalist Program Profile
The Hospitalist Team of three full time physicians will be on site 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. Each full time hospitalist will provide 192 hours of clinically professional medical services per month. This will be block scheduling consisting of one physician 7 AM to 7 PM on site and a second physician working Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM. The evenings will consist of 7 PM to 7 AM on call.
The Hospitalist Team will attend to adult medicine inpatients from admission to discharge, and will provide, as necessary, response to codes, procedure support, patient consultations, and surgical & psych co-management.
