Hospital Profile

• Camden-Clark is a progressive, well-managed and respected 343-bed community hospital located in northwestern West Virginia along the Ohio River.
• HMG has earned the commitment and strong support for the Hospitalist Program by Administration, Medical Staff and Nursing Staff.
• Comprehensive medical staff represents all major specialties including thoracic and vascular surgery, obstetrics and pediatrics.  Additionally, the Hospital serves as a regional trauma referral center.
• Renovations of 42,000 square feet, and 94,000 square feet of new building-expansion space, along with a strong medical staff have enabled the facility to maintain its position as a leader in serving the multi-county region.
• Excellent equipment includes third-generation spiral CT Scanner.
• Hospital based EMS squad in addition to EMS training program.
• 41,000 annual ED visits represent a broad mix of patient pathology and 20-25% of patients seen in the ED are admitted, which comprise 80% of the hospital census.

 

Hospitalist Program Profile

 

• Currently the program consists of 4-6 physicians providing 12-hour day coverage with call at night.  By fall of 2009 we anticipate a team of 7-8 physicians providing 24/7 coverage, consisting of double coverage during the day and single coverage at night.  Shifts will be 7 am to 7 pm and 7 pm to 7 am,  4-7 days on and 4-7 days off. 
• The Hospitalist Team provides service response for codes, consultations, inpatient episodic medical care, ICU procedures, unassigned ED call and patient admission/discharge.
• Average patient census is 18-22 patients per physician.

 

Community

 

Wood County is located in the northwestern tip of the Mid-Ohio Valley and is conveniently located within a two-hour drive from Columbus and Pittsburgh.  This accounts for an unusually mild climate that is significantly warmer than Pittsburgh and Wheeling to the north and Bluefield to the south.

 

• Parkersburg hosts a broad and eclectic group of local employers including General Electric, Dupont, Ames and Coldwater Creek, which has given rise to a well-educated and cultured community.
• Metro area has a population of approximately 60,000.  Accordingly, a number of upscale neighborhoods have been constructed including a renovated historic district.  Homes in these communities range from approximately $200,000 to over $1 million.
• Community schools offer similarly diverse educational opportunities with programs for the gifted as well as the physically challenged.
• Private and parochial schools are also available locally.  The city is also the second home to the West Virginia Symphony and host to the Parkersburg Choral Society and numerous other seasonal cultural projects.
• Easy access is also afforded to excellent outdoor recreation areas such as the Canaan Valley for mountain biking, hiking, skiing, hunting and fishing.  The North Bend Rail Trail is part of the 5,500-mile coast-to-coast American Discovery Trail.  Stretching 72 miles, this scenic trail passes through 13 tunnels and crosses 36 bridges.
